February - Painting a Landscape in Oil (Weekend Workshop)

£250.00

Venue: Donegal; Three Trees, Quigley’s Point (Click for directions)

Dates: Fri 13th - Sunday 15th Feb 2026

Times: Friday 6pm - 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am – 5pm

Limited to 8 people

Have you always wanted to paint an oil painting but not sure how to start or indeed have painted with oils before but not happy with the outcome. Well, this is the workshop for you! When learning to paint, the best practice is to initially start with recreating other paintings. Much like learning to bake a cake, we use a recipe or learning to play a guitar, we learn the cords for someone else’s music. Painting is no different. Throughout this weekend workshop I will be guiding all students how to recreate the same painting. In doing so you will be taught various methods of oil painting, understanding why a limited palette is helpful, why artists use various mediums and how you hold your brush is important. You will also be taught how to transfer an image to your canvas, learn the importance of tonal value and the complexity of colour theory and colour mixing. Once you have learnt these various methods, I guarantee, creating your own work with your own individual style will be much more enjoyable.

Like all my workshop, this is open to both beginners & improvers.
